Does he care much about test cricket? I can only assume a man of his obvious talent only averages 27 in test cricket if he doesn't care.... the T20 dollars line the bank account more than test runs do now days.

I've been critical of Hope in the past. However, I don't think he's one of those who's more interested in T20s. Even though he's now captain in that format.

In the past, he was vulnerable to the short ball, which was his nemesis in Test cricket. This year he seems to have found a solution to that problem, and his average for 2025 is now much better than his overall average.

It will be interesting to see how much longer they persist with Chase the passenger Test captain before choosing his obvious successor. But does Hope want the Test captaincy?

He definitely seems more interested in tests now than ever before ....assuming it's an absolute road this pitch they're playing on ... fantastic start with the bat for the windies! Another bowling injury in the series though this time it's roach who looks like he's done a hamstring

Doesn't look like NZ can squeeze a win out of this situation. Given how flat the pitch is, they'll delay any declaration.

When you are a captain who doesn't score runs and take wickets, you have to at least not put in the opposition on a pancake and have them smash 1000 runs in the test. Can Chase do anything right?
