What's buzzing in the world of cricket....

We actually got a detailed insight into racism in English cricket with the inquiry at Yorkshire.

I wouldn't go as far as Diane Abbott but I suspect prejudice based on ethnicity is still entrenched in society and is showing few signs of going away. Listen to the stuff that comes out of Reform. I saw none from hospital workers, but some filtered through patients. My hunch is professional people meet with little racism from their colleagues, but they do from the public.

And it's tolerated more among less educated people. Which makes cricket vulnerable because these are not professionals in the academic sense, and its journalists are mostly former players. They give up their school years to play sport. This is an environment where someone like Darren Lehmann can live an entire life.

So like at YCCC, I'd be surprised if racism isn't a fact of life for players within the game. And I still think UK should be listened to.

In fact CA Australia can't leave this hanging. They either need to confront the issue or demonstate it's fictitious.

When India toured Australia , iirc Ricky Ponting said he was the next big talent from Australia. What happened to Will Pucovski?

Retired due to repeated head injuries from being it by bouncers. He was in double figure concussions, and started to get mental health issues as a result... retired for medical reasons.

Arthur, I posted this in the BBL fantasy thread, then realised you probably would not see it:

GarlicJam wrote:Arthur, as I remember that you are a fan of the Banana Man, and I assume that you are not watching the BBL:

42 year old Peter Siddle has bowled every delivery possible so far this BBL, has been hitting speeds of 143-4, and is top of the list of wicket takers as I type.

all with hair so bleached it almost looks grey.

Viva Peter. Maybe not so furious these days? No more Sid Vicious.

Not as you'd think.

Last night he was fired right up. Almost brought his Stars an unlikely win.

He was raging at his team and the world in general (as he took his second wicket for the over). He was straining every muscle in his body, all at once - he looked extremely fit and energetic.

Thanks, Sussex. Apparently 13 concussion incidents for him. Good that he is safe after so many hits.
