Still got enough. But it did look like India would get another 100.

Only 14! Impossible!

Someone's already updated his wikipage with that score.

Even considering one variable, reaction time. Kids under the age of 15 have the same reaction times in general to retired people. I believe this kid was 12 when he first entered the IPL auction... this is quite literally the same as an 75 year old playing IPL, they'd probably have similar physical abilities assuming the OAP kept himself in good general health. When you get to the elite level, total success and failure can rely on the most minute differences in things like reaction time.... the difference between 20 and 40 year old is far, far less than between 14 and 17, and yet all careers end before 40 because that minute drop in the elite level makes so much of a difference. No single player I believe has scored a test hundred after 39.

There are freaks and statistical outliers, but its the extent of the outlier that makes this impossible to believe. You not only have to believe that he can react to the speed of full adult bowling, which is itself is almost impossible to fathom because it requires something never observed in statistic data on the subject, but then by extension also have to conclude his level of performance means he even exceeds the elite standards of peak ages groups to the point no one can live with him.

And if you still believe that's possible, despite exceeding by some distance what has ever been scientifically recorded, you then also have to get passed the whole fact the Indian government just passed a law trying to curb age fraud in the country because its so rampant, or the fact that the BCCI's Cricketing Academy Director not that long ago spoke out about the sheer scale of age fraud he has noticed in players turning up to be coached.

But yeah.... I am sure he is 14

What's the bet his form will sharply decline at 23 never to return? The Yakubu effect!! The grey hair appearing at 17?

Not obvious it would be fine for a 14 year old to be playing international cricket, in terms of his development and what he's exposed to. We're saying under-16s shouldn't access social media!

But I think female tennis players do, or did play with adults at that age. Gymnasts etc. Not quite the same as cricket in India though.

A creditable reply in the end under enormous scoreboard pressure. Just a shame about the 4 wickets for 3 runs earlier. If more than just Minto had stuck with Falconer, England might have got a lot closer. They had the time, in the end.

Well done to India, that was an enormous total, and well done to England for making it a one player difference instead of a whole team difference

The Cold War era Eastern bloc domination of Gymnastics was arguably the most famous example of state sanctioned doping that's ever occurred, so it hardly feels relevant. And Tennis was famously rife with drugs in the 80s and 90s, in fact the two youngest grandslam winners I can think off in my lifetime (Martina Hingis and Sharapova) both failed doping tests.

So these examples don't feel right. Maybe a 16 year old can bridge the gap with nandrolone, but not with just nature.

Extraordinary performance from the 14 year old future Bradman...not much England or anyone could do about it from there . They should be happy , if still unsatisfied , with running second in this event to such a freakish effort.

However old he is or isn't , this kid has obviously got amazing talent. Will be fascinating to see how he progresses into the senior ranks...

The Belgian T20 league is up and running, and my god I think its going to be a big flaming disaster. Russie Van der Dessen has been signed up, but the idiot representing the ICC in Belgium has blown the whole budget for the tournament on three big signings, he had 300k and despite my protests signing 3 ringers before having any other plan. My wife, who has never held a cricket ball, was offered to be captain of one of the teams .....

There is a possibility I will captain the a team, but I am seriously debating whether I want to be involved with this shame. We are literally at the point of the Belgian ICC rep offering games to anyone who can speak English that he met.

Lovely way to blow 300 grand
