The Hokey Cokey is here again 2014-2015

The beautiful game!

So Real Madrid buy Kroos for 25 million, and offset it by getting rid of some driftwood for 4 times the cost they paid? Di Maria is a reserve player at Madrid, why the hell would United pay more than 30 million for someone who hasn't even performed to his billing at Real?

Like I just explained to a mate, its about Man U and LVG throwing their weight about, a signal of intent.

Like you said, they could of got Kroos and Lovren for under 50mil and actually improved.

Signal of intent to what? To intend to buy average players for World Record fees because they are desperate? Far from showing power, this makes Man United look stupid. In fact, they would do better to cover the money in petrol and burn it, at least then Real Madrid wouldn't be laughing because they just bought the two best players at the World Cup and made a profit of 10-15 million by off loading a bench warmer for 80 million over his value.

Man United have the marketing power that Real have, why are they consistently being out done? Why don't they smash down £100 million on Gotze instead?

Madrid or Utd? I know where I'd be off.

50-80 = -30million?

If Shane Long is worth 12, Di Maria probably worth bit more than -30 million ;)

Other midfields in world football for what they were signed for, discounting Real Madrid's Galacticos

Schurrle - 18 million
Goetze - 29-30 million
Willian - 30 Million
Kroos - £25 million
Thiago - £20 million
Fabragas - £30 million
Oscar - 19 million
Yaya - 24 million
Marco Reus - 15 million
Alexis Sanchez - 30-35 mill
Rakitic - 18 Million
Markovic - 20 million
Hazard - 31 million
Pastore - 34 million

Not sure he is worth more than 30 mill imo

I'd say Di Maria is worth around £40m.

Man Utd would probably play Di Maria at CB or something anyway.

They signed Mata ( for my money the most talented player in the league ) and played him out of position.

Mata's back in his main position now though.

Why would Man Utd prioritise signing a player like Di Maria when they have that defence? It's idiotic. You've got Lingard and Blackett, two championship players starting, Ashley Young who's been shite for at least two years playing in his natural position, playing at wing back, Smalling and Jones who just aren't good enough at the moment as your first two centre backs but what you really need is an attacking player when you've already got Wayne, RVP, Mata, Kagawa, Herrera...

Indeed. A hundred million would come close to buying you a champions league defence. they have enough in the other areas of the pitch to compete.

It was the defence that was abysmal on Saturday.

Sort that out and Utd will be a force again.

The goals came from nothing, and for the second the defending was abysmal.
