Many teams are still adjusting to all those changes.

I don't think it is as much of an advantage for the bowlers adi

the white ball doesn't seem to swing or seam as much as the red ball and having newer balls which stay harder for longer helps the batsmen just as much

Depends on whether batter likes pace or spin to bat against. And who bowlers are. Overall the technique has got more importance now for openers.

There are lot of changes in balls too with regards to lacquer user and layer, then how pronounced the seam of ball is. Now they have some degree of water proof balls to reduce dew factor as well as too much issue even if rains slightly.

all those factors are the same whether its one or two new balls tbh

having 2 new balls at the start isn't as much of a factor when it doesn't swing or seam much compared to losing out on the reverse swing and it being harder to hit the softer ball towards the end

how many times in tests do we hear commentators talking about the danger of taking the new ball against set batsmen as altho it might increase the chances of taking a wicket batsmen like the harder ball as they get full value for their shots

Hazlewood, Warner, Doherty and Bailey back for Australia. No Watson (who is in my FL).

Axar is playing no Ashwin.
Axar bowled well just looked out of depth when batting.

Ashwin is competing with Axar/binny.

Oh i thought he was replaced. But Axar has to perform today . Doubt we will play with two spinners. Dhoni trying to see who is better at the moment. :dunno

Keepers are good picks as they aren't easily replaced. Though it helps if they're playing well. Unlike Dhoni and Buttler...

buttler has scored decent points , but with the gloves rather than the bat

India will probably always play 2 spinners just the question which ones.
2 of Ashwin, Jadeja, Binny and Axar will always play because of their batting abilties.

Personally I would always pick 2 spinners since those 2 guarantee 20 overs where as binny can only really provide 4-6 overs.

But Binny playing as a proper batsman is not out of question which I don't mind if Dhawan/Rayudu do crap.

if your seamers suck and are going at 6+ runs per over then you should stop playing them and not stick with them just because its supposedly seam friendly conditions

In normal overseas conditions, I reckon you get a bit of wobble for about three overs with each ball.

Annoys me when England bowlers bowl cross seam early in the innings at home as you can get about 5+5 overs of good quality swing in UK.

might end up that way , still plenty of depth as patel is supposedly handy with the bat even tho he hasn't shown it in this series

It may not seam or swing but bounce is guaranteed longer as ball stays harder longer.

I agree, if someone is bowling wayward like Shaun Tait at that speed then it works for batsmen if the ball stays harder longer.

but you are only looking at what the bowler gains at the start and not what he loses at the end ...

That i agree, he loses reverse swing or very tough to get it with hard ones. Also as batters are in hit mode they like pace.
