England 435 all out in 2009.

I think the umpire has already made up his mind that he will review it himself, but puts the finger up to make sure that the question is "does it conclusively hit the floor", not "is it conclusive he takes the catch".... for grounded balls like this, the umpire should always refer them, its simply crazy not to. What Broad says imo is immaterial, I expect the umpire was never going to give the catch and punish with a review as he must had acknowledged catches that close are guessing?
I like that umpiring if so. More umpires should be inclined to say "that's out in my mind, prove me wrong" then plenty of wickets being lost to the grey area of inconclusive tv pictures.

Yeah, fine. Good umpiring - that is not my point.
All my question was (and it is regardless of Erasmus' intentions and actions), is does Broad have the right to say to the ump "are you sure that it carried?" Maybe he does. Or, should he have used a review to ask that question (assuming ME didn't ask his 3rdie), to avoid disputing the umpire.
