Billings should be in the team

Has shown more than enough in his short England career

But should he have been selected ahead of someone like Vince in the first place. After all he doesn't bowl and Buttler keeps, probably come out with the good finisher rubbish.

Vince is a top order batsmen

They aren't competing for the same spot

Pick your best power batsman for me, batting position in T20 is largely irrelevant.

I disagree

Starting in the powerplay and slogging from ball one at the end require different skills and practice

Billings is competing with bairstow not vince as Dan said

Two powerful middle order batsmen who just happen to be keepers as well.

They are two of the most explosive batsmen in England and excellent fielders with out the gloves

Would Sri Lanka have dropped keeper-batsmen Chandimal and Kusal Perera just because Sangakkara was keeper? No, you pick your best batsmen even if they have to be keepers as well.

Exactly, that's why I'm questioning Billings being one of our best batsman.

He came from nowhere for me, playing for a team that hasn't done much in T20 or 50 over cricket, but as I said earlier he's from a preferred county!

If they'd have picked Vince and put him at 7 (which is where Billings was on the sheet even if he end up batting at 6), you'd have complained too. They want someone who is used to batting at 6/7, but they want Buttler and Stokes to bat higher up and see it as a place too higher for Rashid/Willey/Woakes.

Roy hasn't quite taken to international cricket yet, albeit he has only played 3 T20Is and 6 ODIs - a combined 6 innings so not much to make a judgement off. Vince is obviously highly thought of, else he wouldn't be in the squad, nor would he have captained the Lions last winter, and should they decide to drop Roy then Vince remains an option. Though England are likely to move Moeen up and play Root at 3.

Complete list of Hampshire players to have represented England in the past 5 years: Michael Carberry, Danny Briggs, and Vince too if you count that Ireland ODI. Tremlett and Pietersen played too, albeit having left Hampshire in 2009 and 2010 respectively.

Complete list of Kent players to have represented England in the past 5 years: James Tredwell, Sam Billings.

Yes, England are always picking Kent players.

(Might not actually be complete lists, tried my best though!)

Willey has a long run-up for an 80mph bowler.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Pietersen only played a couple of games for Hants, and I don't think his county had much bearing on his selection!!

Considering we've made finals day for the past 6 years our international representation has been pretty minimal, a handful of appearances from the three you mention.

How Tredwell ever played for England I do not know, so that was clearly becasue he played for Kent!
