really Bangladesh should be favourites to win the 2nd test.

England would do well to keep it 1-0.

So despite winning this game, England don't deserve to be favourites for the second? Can't quite follow your logic there.

Bangladesh have one batsman averaging over 40. England have four. Not sure how you can say that Bairstow and Moeen won't score runs consistently, considering that Moeen averages 55 (2 hundreds, 4 fifties) and Johnny averages 72 (3 hundreds, 5 fifties) in the 2016 calendar year. And how many games are there going to be when Cook and Root don't score, and England's second and third wickets score less than ten runs?

England also have better pacers who've proved they can both keep it tight and be a wicket taking threat with the old ball. Bangladesh's pace attack was anonymous.

Sure Bangladesh have a better spin attack, and England may still be expected to struggle on a turning track. It won't be a shocker if Bangladesh win, they're certainly capable of it based on this match. But on the evidence of past performances and this test match, England will be favourites.

maybe we should just agree on them being evens.
Since I still don't believe the logic that England should be favourites because they won the game and the past record which is pointless really since Bangladesh is nothing like they were 6 yrs ago.
plus really if you think about it doubt anyone would back England till they actually score the runs for one won't back them taking 20 wicket unless the wicket doing something.
think more people will be confident of Bangladesh winning although really not much in it.
If I was pricing the game would be Bangladesh 1.90 and England 2.00 with the odds excluding the draw.

We don't know for sure if BD are nothing like they were 6 years ago because England are a much weaker team now than they were then.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

I would say that Bangladesh batting cannot be compared to that of England.

TBH england don't really have much batting except for Cook and Root.
the rest are all unknown quantity in Asia and they haven't really shown the technique to suggest they will score runs in Asia consistently either.

Cook has the best average ever for a non Asian in Asia.

If they are unknown quantities in Asia how can you criticise their technique and ability to score runs in Asia.

Bairstow has overcome each test so far since establishing himself in the side. He might have been found out by Yasir in England on end of season pitches, but he excelled. Who knows in India, but the slate is probably clean.

But England will lose 5-0 (unless they get a road somewhere in the series). I'm not trying to generate momentum for the possibility of a competitive series.

might be wrong but didn't they play in UAE and one test in bangladesh.
Bairstow averages 26 in Asia and even in bangladesh he was pretty lucky in scoring those runs.
Ali Averages 20 in Asia and 22 in West indies.
Balance isn't exactly going to score runs either and Ben Stokes isn't that comfortable in these conditions.

people are kidding themselves if they think England batting is better than Bangladesh in these conditions.

Some England batters may not be good against spin in India, however in no way imo Bangladesh is better than England.

Think Tamim Iqbal, Sabbir rahman, Mushifiqur rahim, Shakib, Mahmudullah are better batsman than most of the one in england right now in these conditions.
that not even including mominul haque.

if anyone really thinks England batting is better than Bangladesh in these conditions are deluded.

Was Sabbir lucky to score those runs, he was dropped by Bairstow off Broad on Sunday. Most long innings in difficult circumstances require some luck along the way, a faultless display is a rare sight. Anyway we'll continue kidding ourselves if that's alright with you.

Don't remember him looking like he was going to get out so many times in his innings though.
Anyway don't start complaining when the batting fails in the next test match.

Still, England do have Cook and Root. Having two batters likely to be comfortable in the conditions is a plus for them, and an assessment of their batting should include them.

All the top order wickets in the Chittagong Test were taken by spinners. Bangladesh have better spinners than England. England scored more runs. Therefore it's arguable on the evidence so far that the BD batters don't play the spin particularly better than the England counterparts, especially considering the tourists won't be fully acclimatised yet.
