or the evidence suggest bangladesh batsman batted better but have a long tail.
their first 5 wicket scored more runs than england 5 wickets.

Bit odd saying the BD Batters don't play spin well when the spinners averaged 30 with the ball and were more expensive.
Thought Tamim Iqbal and M Rahim played spin really well.

yes no one question Cook, people are questioning where the runs will be coming from apart from Cook and Root.

Still, England do have Cook and Root. Having two batters likely to be comfortable in the conditions is a plus for them, and an assessment of their batting should include them.

All the top order wickets in the Chittagong Test were taken by spinners. Bangladesh have better spinners than England. England scored more runs. Therefore it's arguable on the evidence so far that the BD batters don't play the spin particularly better than the England counterparts, especially considering the tourists won't be fully acclimatised yet.

Not sure what game you were watching.

ok Arthur do you see this batting line up better than Bangladesh or at the same level from the evidence seen so far.
By the way been including Cook and Root in my assessment.

All I say it is very close considering Bangladesh have no mug batsman in the top 6 and England would have some really good batting line up if they rated better than them.

England have top six batters coming in until number nine. Can't really call them the tail just because they are batting in positions the opposition normally occupy with bowlers. Depth is one of England's strengths. Of the top order batters, Cook has scored more heavily in Asia than any of the BD batters, maybe Root too. Again, against better spinners.

I expect things might be different in a different match, and the England batting was very flawed. But given how much better the BD slow bowling was, the England top nine at least matched them in the first Test. Stokes, Bairstow and Mo got runs on the board. Woakes scored handy runs in the context of a close game.

and if you read my post above you will have seen that I rated Bangladesh and England batting basically the same and Arthur was talking about Bangladesh tail not england.
Bangladesh had 2 collapse when they were in a very good position.

if bangladesh prepare a flat deck, ban get the advantage and if they prepare a turning deck ban again get the advantage.
really Bangladesh should be favourites to win the 2nd test.

England would do well to keep it 1-0.

Some England batters may not be good against spin in India, however in no way imo Bangladesh is better than England.

In what actual reason are england batsman better than bangladesh batsman in these conditions would love to know which reason you can come up with.
considering as a group in the first test they only scored 20 runs more and if you give an advantage to the side batting first you could probably say Bangladesh batted better and if anything most of the praise has been on Bangladesh nearly chasing 280 odd on that pitch.

This remind me of the time in 2014 when I was defending bangladesh like crazy and like 6 months later they knock England out of the world cup.

Stats of both sides in Asian Tests. Minimum 200 runs, since 2006.

http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine ... pe=batting

Of the three players with good averages, two are English. Shakib has an ok average, the rest aren't good. England are mostly too inexperienced overseas to make the charts.

I think most people saw England getting out of their WC group as the absolute limit of their ambition, except for Peter Moores. Losing to BD wasn't a surprise.

If the England batsmen got to face the England bowlers they'd have scored much more runs than Bangladesh

Or it shows Bangladesh batman are better or similar Ability to Ian bell and Matt prior.
So what actual evidence is there England better than Bangladesh in batting in these conditions since only 2 Current English batsman make the List from England and most of the Bangladesh batting line up make it.

Or Ali, batty and rashid get more wickets cheaply and the batting fails again.

Tbh when the likes of nasir hossain or soumya sarkar can't get into the side you know Bangladesh got a decent batting side. But no point discussing this here since most of you don't even watch or follow Bangladesh cricket but still go with the old stereotype that Bangladesh must be awful or *modded*.

Bangladesh would have a lot more players on the list given they play their home games in Asia, England only tour there.

Soumya has hardly scored any runs since those ODIs last summer.

Mosaddek is pretty good though. Not sure why he doesn't make the squad.
