What can you expect when no one even tours or plays bangladesh.
the only game we got in record that resulted in a result, bangladesh lost by 20 runs, in the last 2 yrs.
if that isn't prove that they close to a test win then I don't know what it and surely the fact they so much better in ODI in the past 2 yrs also probably plays a factor that they are due a test win or the fact they got some seriously good cricketers.

Bangladesh best chance of winning was first test. Now Team England are slightly better adapted to lot of things.
Test FL's - 8 , ODI and Tests Combo FL's - 1, ODI World Cup - 1, ODI FL's - 7, ODI and T20i combo FL's - 1 ,
T20 Franchisee FL's - 7, T20i Cup FL's- 1, T20 FL's- 5 , 50 Overs Domestic FL's - 1, 40 Overs Domestic FL's- 1

That is not the point of debate. The point is whether Bangladesh are better than England at this point of time or not.

Well at this point of time England are what 20 runs better off with one game to play.
Not really sure I seen enough good points from england to say they are better than Bangladesh at this point of time.

TBH not sure they played badly, it looked like this will be what they produce most of the time in these conditions, if anything think they played close to the best they can produce and that even taking into account Root and Cook failing, actually the only person not playing to their best or very under par was Cook, thought everyone was ok or doing what I expected from them. Root didn't get runs but he made batting look easy while he was batting and he did get 2 good balls.

For one the pace men bowled very well to win the game, both times facing a spell where they don't take wickets bangladesh win the game and the lower order saved england twice to post acceptable totals.
really looked like england were pushed all the way in the game rather than playing at 50-60% and getting complacent and then upping the ante when they were losing or at risk at losing the game.

But of course I might be seeing it wrong and england were playing badly and could play 100 or 200% better.

or you can say Ben Stokes was the key man in the game with the bat and ball.

Well looks like England might lose the advantage if Woakes, Batty and broad get rested in the 2nd test.

When the game came to the crucial points, England raised their game and moved ahead. When they stopped BD getting a first innings lead. When Stokes and Bairstow took the game beyond BD in the second innings, and when Broad and Stokes took out the lower order when they threatened at the end. Which isn't to say BD didn't have good patches themselves, or weren't resilient, just that these proved significant in the eventuality of the result.

And until BD win, it will seem like this, that they don't win the big moments. They don't threaten when set only 30-odd on the last morning. They will surely begin to win. But currently, they don't win. And even if they may prevail in Dhaka, it currently seems sensible to predict that they won't.

behavesgor is in his element by making himself the centre of attention, why waste time with someone who would be happy to go on circling all night long.
Work expands to fill the time available, so why do today what can be put off until tomorrow.

Well suspect I will be proven right after the 2nd test, considering most of you can't actually come up with any actual cricketing reason why England should be favourites.

So how does england winning a close game which suggest england and Bangladesh are 50-50 in these conditions mean in the next game England start favourite, if that really was the case then in the 2014 series India would be favourite to win the 3rd test.
pakistan to win the 2nd test and finally Australia to beat england in Edgebaston or trent bridge can't remember which game came after england winning at lords.
or England being favourites to win at lords in the same series.

So you really basing the fact England are favourites to win on what happened in the last game and not on what the cricketers can do.
If you really basing on what the cricketers can do then it would be no brainier Bangladesh start as slim favourites.

Considering they got the better spinners and a similar batting line up to England.
What do england offer awful spinners and them changing the pace attack, the only positive they have is batting depth.

Anyway what the point of discussing this if most people see England as favourites, people going to get huge shocks when Bangladesh actually do well again and England bowl badly and struggle with the bat.

I won't be surprised. That can clearly happen. A 'huge shock' isn't commensurate with the discussion that's going on here. And I don't think anyone is suggesting England aren't a flawed side, especially in the conditions.
