According to Martin Emmerson it looks as if they're trying to bat out a draw - and there were 15 overs remaining (51 runs needed) when he tweeted that!
Surely there's no point - it'll almost certainly not work and even if it does the draw points are no good. May as well try and get the runs.

Well I'm biased of course but it looked to me as if it was definitely missing. At the very least it was doubtful so should have been not out.

and once again we lose out because we allowed someone (a bowler at that) with a FC ave of 20 odd to score 105 which, if the form book is anything to go by, will probably turn out to be a career best score

seems to happen almost every game.

If I was a modest county pro coming towards the end of a contract, or with contract negotiations coming up, I'd be desperate to play Durham.

it could well keep me in a job for another year or two

Absolutely. Higgins in this match had a previous top score of (I think) 63- was definitely under 70.
Either all of these people are geniuses who have been desperately unlucky to have a poor record or our bowling is useless! And I think we know which one it is.

I was viewing over extra cover shouldn't say if it was missing stumps. However it kept very low so in that respect he was unlucky.
Wood again confirmed he can bat looking comfortable against both the old and new ball. He seemed to be in discomfort though when running.
Called for Nigel, they had a long conversation ( loved to have earwigged that!). I think Nigel decided they'd have a balti rather than a Chinese on the evening.

Suspect he'll be with us until the end of the season as he's unlikely to be selected for the 2nd test when Stokes has business elsewhere as he won't have any red ball opportunity before that to test his fitness. After that with England going for 2 spinners and only 3 seamers can't see him being selected.

but that also means he'll be being tended by Nige and not an England physio who knows some basic anatomy, which must increase his chances of being out for the rest of the season

Yes. If the injury is just an unfortunate one, and not related to his numerous previous problems, it might be ok but if not he might have some thinking to do ( could be a problem!). Think you've mentioned before that he has talent with the bat and could maybe look to focus on that part of his game?

Tweet from Carse today wasn't overly encouraging - he seemed to be saying he's seeing a specialist ( in London thankfully!) to " get down to the bottom of things" That tweet and the chat I had with one of the regulars at the T20 the other week suggests he has a chronic injury. Or maybe the tweet meant he's in negotiations to join Sorry next year :lmao

Stokes is available tomorrow and Colly is back too. Smith out with a calf strain and replaced by Pringle.

Stokes playing as a batsman only tomorrow according to Martin Emmerson who says Durham were surprised to find out he was available. Not like FTECB to have problems with communication.
